Produced from 1982 to 1992 the Lotus Excel is a completely separate model to the earlier Eclat but to avoid having to Type Approve a new model, the early Excels also carried the Eclat title, when they are, in fact, a different car.In addition to the very obvious styling differences, the Excel was equipped with the Toyota Supra gearbox and final drive, the chassis was galvanised and modified at the rear with wide based lower wishbones and the braking was via ventilated discs all round. This 1986 example is said to have covered only 32,000 miles from new. This statement is supported by a number of previous MoT certificates and a fully stamped service booklet. The car is also said to have benefited from £1900 worth of works at Emblem Sports Cars in 2005 and is described as being one of the best available.Finished in red with oatmeal half leather interior, the car is MoT tested through to August 2007.
