Lot 131: TVR Chimera
The TVR Chimaera first appeared in 1993 and was intended to be more of a GT car than its sibling the TVR Griffith. Although it shared much of the chassis and mechanicals, with the Griffith, it featured a larger boot and slightly softer suspension. Then in 1996 the Chimaera received a minor facelift, the front end becoming more like that of the Cerbera. The mesh grille was removed and a horizontal split added across the grille space and indicator. In 2001 the Chimaera was given Griffith style covered headlights. Offered here is a 1997, 5.0 litre example, finished in Polar Silver with a dark blue leather interior and reported to be in very good condition throughout. With just three previous owners, two of whom were from the same family, the car has covered approximately 46,500 miles at the time of cataloguing. It is worth noting that, of the out of approximately 6000 Chimera's built ,there were just 600 or so 5.0 cars Said to drive very well, the car has the lovely Art Deco style walnut dash, stainless steel kick plates and it is finished with Griffifth 500 wheels which are in 'as new' condition. The car also benefits from power steering, full hide interior and rear speakers. Coming with a full service history, the car is MOT tested to March 2012 and taxed to the end of April of next year.
