Lot 43: Bentley TURBO R

When first seen at the Geneva Salon in 1982, the Turbo version of the Bentley Mulsanne certainly raised a few eyebrows and restored the high performance image of the marque.� Its leviathan proportions notwithstanding, the car would sprint from a standstill to 60mph in around 8 seconds and on to a maximum of 135mph.� Three years later, the Turbo R was to continue this theme and featured a number of improvements to this imposing sports saloon. Finally, after years of refusal to disclose power outputs, Rolls-Royce motors stated that 320bhp was produced by this superlative engine with its Garret AirResearch turbocharger.�Strikingly finished in Vermillion with Magnolia hide upholstery, the Turbo R presented here for sale was first registered on 27th November 1986.� In the present owner's hands for almost ten years, we are assured that the car has no faults apparent and some �2770 have been spent recently.� Later type alloy wheels and headlamps are fitted and the turbocharger was replaced three years ago.� With only a small mileage covered in recent years, the motor car is being sold due to the imminent purchase of another Bentley and is offered with documentation including partial service history and bills, etc., a V5 registration document and current MOT certificate valid until 29th May 2008.�
