Lot 03: Triumph TR7 CONVERTIBLE

The TR7 was to make its first appearance in 1976 as a fixed head coup�. However, by 1979, a convertible variant was also available. With styling that was very much of its time, the TR7 Convertible was to prove extremely popular, remaining in production until 1981. The 2-litre twin OHC engine gave respectable performance with a top speed of 110mph while the level of equipment was comprehensive for a car of this class. Finished in beige, this example dates from 1981 and has been the property of an aero engineer who carried out much restoration on it. TR8-type front brakes have been fitted, together with a high ratio rear axle, whilst the engine was fully rebuilt with unleaded head being fitted. A tubular manifold and sports stainless steel exhaust system are desirable additions. The gearbox is understood to have been rebuilt and the seats have recently been re-upholstered in brown leather. The car is said to be excellent for touring, giving good fuel economy and proving extremely comfortable over long distances. The battery has been replaced recently and the car is offered with an extensive file of documentation along with a purpose-made cotton cover and workshop manuals. An MOT certificate current until 14th September next year is also provided.
