Lot 122: Triumph TR2

The TR2 was something of a surprise in 1953. Despite having a modest, 1991cc, Standard engine under the bonnet the model was capable of a true 100 mph, it was very successful both in the UK and abroad, especially in America. The TR2 spawned a whole series of open, two seater sports cars, which would take Triumph through to the 1980's and the eventual demise of the marque at the hands of British Leyland.Offered here is a 1955 example of the TR2, which has benefited from an earlier restoration, back in the early 1980's, with very little use since.Finished in the definitive BRG with tan interior, the car sits on chrome wire wheels and is complete with an excellent hood and the correct side screens. The vendor describes the car as being an 8 out of 10 example, in overall good condition but not mint, ready to drive and enjoy with historic tax through to July 2008 and MoT through to June 2008.
