Lot 235: 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback

The launch of the Ford Mustang in 1964 was perhaps the greatest sensation in US motoring history. Its instant appeal generated huge demand with production exceeding even the most optimistic expectations. The personal sports car had arrived and the Mustang legend was born. Among enthusiasts, the original 1965-66 Mustang has always been the purest and most desirable model. Its simplicity and clean lines were quickly lost as later Mustangs piled on weight and size and by the mid 1970's, the model had lost all distinction. The outstanding example you see here today was tracked down in Menlo Park, California in 2003. Although structurally and mechanically sound the owner a perfectionist embarked upon a 3 year long restoration. The body was stripped back to bare metal and body panels including floors were replaced and the car repainted in special order 'Highland Green' original Du-Pont period colour. All new rubber seals, chrome window surrounds and bright work, a suspension kit and uprated shock absorbers were fitted new. The engineand drive train were freshly rebuilt incorporating and including: Edelbrock Performer 600 cfm carburetors, an Edelbrock performer manifold, reinforced distributor, a rebuilt C6 automatic gearbox, improved radiator, competition steering rack, new 15" American Racing torque thrust "d" center wheels with aluminium centres, Cooper Cobra 205/60 15 tyres, disc brakes, gas suspension kit, Auto-Meter rev counter and hundreds of other modifications to long to list here! The result is without doubt one of the finest and most exciting Mustang's to drive in Europe. It has since appeared in a number of important motoring publications and will provide its lucky new owner with a fantastically sorted example in the words of its owner "needing nothing!"Cette voiture est sans aucun doute l'une des plus importante et excitante Mustang a conduire en Europe.
