Lot 103: 1963 Moto Guzzi Lodola 235cc
Spring Auction, Coys (20th April 2005)
Motor Guzzi, one of Italy's most famous motorcycle manufactures was formed in 1920, although production did not start until 1924. Renown for their V twin engines it is the early examples of their single cylinder engine bikes that forged the company's success as cheap utilitarian transport for the masses during the post war boom. This very original Lodola 235cc is typical of the Italian motorcycles produced during the 1950's and 60's, however this example is remarkably just one owner from new. Having been purchased in 1963, the bike was used continually until 1973 when the owner laid it up after a period of ill health. Recently discovered it has been lightly recommissioned and is said to run 'like a clock'. It comes with the original buff log book the original bill of sale and an owners manual. A genuine barn find!
