Lot 151: Bentley Turbo R by Hooper

When first seen at the Geneva Salon in 1982, the turbo version of the Bentley Mulsanne certainly raised a few eyebrows and restored the high performance image of the Bentley marque. Desptite its leviathan proportions, the car would sprint to 60mph in around eight seconds and on to a top speed of 135mph. Three years later, the Turbo R was to continue this theme and featured a number of improvements to this imposing sports saloon. Finally, after years of refusal to disclose power outputs, the company stated that 320bhp was produced by this superlative engine with its Garrett AiResearch turbocharger.This 1989 Turbo R is smartly finished in Brewster green with St James's red hide interior. The coachwork has the Hooper style privacy rear window and is also equipped with all round Sundym glass. Said to be of very presentable appearance, the cars has recently benefited from over £1850 worth of expenditure.
