Lot 371: 1963 Alfa Romeo 1600 GIULIA SPYDER

Alfa Romeo, Italy's oldest sporting marque, has been building cars since 1910. They produced some of the greatest machinery ever to be seen pre-war, such as the beautiful 1750 Zagato roadsters, the magnificent Monzas and the mighty P3 racing cars. With the advent of the 1950s Alfa Romeo was forced to rationalise its production in order to survive financially. Nonetheless the firm still maintained a strong sporting tendency, and a model was always available to satisfy the whims of Alfa's affluent young customers; such a car was the Giulia Spider.This early Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spyder has been recently comprehensively restored. The shell was taken back to bare metal and every component on the car was either replaced or renewed. A photographic record of the restoration process which accompanies the car substantiate these claims.
