Lot 131: Mercedes-Benz 280SL

First seen in 1989, the 129 SL had a huge act to follow. The 107 SL had been around for 18 years, building a huge following around the world. The 129 had to convince these enthusiasts that it was a worthy successor. It is now 18 years since the launch of the new model and it has, itself, been replaced after a very successful period in production, where it soon gained its own reputation. Offered here is a new generation 2.8 SL of 1994 vintage, which has had just two previous owners from new. The first keeping the car just one year and the last owning the car from 1995 to his untimely, recent passing. Offered with service history, the car is said to drive extremely well and is complete with the hard-top and a stand for same, when removed. Finished in signal red with cream leather, the car is described as being in excellent condition.
