Lot 671: 1967 BENTLEY T1 SALOON

Even in the late 1950s it was becoming clear that the Bentley S-Series (and the Rolls-Royce equivalent Silver Cloud Series) were becoming dated despite revitalisation when the straight six engine of the S1 was superseded with a vee-eight for the SII and SIII. After several years of development work to evolve a new model which could utilize the vee-eight engine and simultaneously up-date the specifications of the whole car, the T-Series Bentley was announced in 1965. It was of unitary construction and had independent suspension and disc brakes all round; the styling reflected the latest trends.

SBH 1983 is a standard example of the model and is finished in period gold over brown livery. At some stage the paintwork has been refurbished, but this would have been a number of years ago and it now shows various signs of age. The interior in green leather is the original and is in good order generally. The odometer states 113,000 miles, which is likely to be accurate given the overall condition of the Bentley.

The car was purchased by the Sharpe family some 20 years ago and regularly used. When tested recently it was noted that the brakes require attention, which would be recommended as part of a full service/recommissioning upon purchase.
