Lot 121: 1967 MG BGT Sebring Recreation

Autosport 2007, Coys (13th January 2007)

Inspired by the lightweight MGC GT fitted with a 2 litre MGB engine that was raced in the Targia Florio by Paddy Hopkirk and finished ninth overall in the unlimited prototype class. This car has been built regardless of cost with bills exceeding £25,000. Built on an original shell, it has been painstakingly restored to obtain excellent lines and panel fit. Finished in Iris blue with a distinctive yellow marker valance. The engine is an unleaded 2 litre MGB engine with gas flowed and ported head, fast road camshaft and a balanced & lightened flywheel (with just 600 miles under its belt). To keep everything where it should be, uprated suspension has been fitted with negative camber wishbones and uprated shocks. Interested parties should note that all components are either new or reconditioned. This striking motorcar is fitted with full roll cage to FIA specification and would make an ideal track day car or a superb fun road car although would require cut off switch and extinguisher for track day use. The interior is fully trimmed for road use with high quality carpets, alloy door fittings, race harnesses and period leather bucket seats. Gas struts are fitted to bonnet & tailgate and the engine bay is fully detailed, fitted with Kenlowe fan, an alloy catch tank and all components powder coated. The wheels are 8" knock on's as per the original car and together, this must represent an extremely high quality car, restored aregardless of cost to fast road spec. All boxes ticked.
