Lot 223: 1963 Porsche 356 C Coupe

The 356 was Porsche's first production car, and brought the marque enduring fame around the world. Its reliability, performance and wonderfully entertaining handling have guaranteed it a keen following. The Porsche 356C was introduced in 1963 as an updated version of the type B, and was the final incarnation of the venerable type 356. There were numerous minor alterations to the fittings, the major changes being mechanical, Ate disc brakes were fitted all round, which sat within new 15 inch wheels and the suspension was improved. The engine was revised with changes to the cylinder heads and the construction and was offered in 1600C, 1600SC and the potent 2000GS guises for the Carrera 2. The type C represents the definitive version of the 356 which was replaced by types 911 and 912, production finally ceasing in 1965.Manufactured in August 1963 with delivery to its new owner on the 4th September, this delightful Coupe resided in the US for the first forty years of its life under the careful ownership of only two owners. The car was imported to the UK a few years ago and is currently with its third owner from new. The vendor informs us that throughout its life the car has always been garaged. As a result it is in a good un-restored condition with the 1600 cc engine in excellent condition. The car is finished in Champagne yellow with a black interior and is supplied with a MoT valid until November and a V5 certificate.
