Lot 414: MK2 Jensen CV8

In October 1962 Jensen launched the 2 door 4 seater fibre glass bodied CV8 saloon. It was powered by an American Chrysler V8 engine and came with automatic transmission and all round disc brakes as standard. It was also the first British car to feature an alternator rather than a dynamo.As with previous Jensen models the interior was very well appointed, being fitted with leather seats, high quality carpet, and its comprehensive instrumentation was set into a wood veneer fascia. In January 1964 the Mk II model was introduced and apart from some minor changes to external brightwork, had a larger version of the Chrysler V8 engine, headlamp flasher, 2 speed wipers and a reversing lamp as standard equipment. Later in the same year a manual gearbox model became available but this car was fitted with the smaller engine of the earlier car, the car on sale is the automatic version. The car on offer is said to be a 3 owner from new vehicle with a good deal of history, it is described as being in good all-round condition and has a confirmed mileage of 54,000, said by the owner to be backed up by receipts and old MOT’s. Equipped with a stainless steel exhaust and a factory fitted Webasto sunroof, described as working perfectly and waterproof, the dark blue paintwork is described as well patinated and shiny with some small areas which might benefit from a touch up if you are fussy about that sort of thing. The interior is also described as being in good condition, so it would appear to offer some exciting V8 sports motoring at perhaps less than half the cost of the concourse equivalent. The registration number for this car 7070 VU is being sold separately from the vehicle in the same auction on the 3rd April, the vehicle may need to be retained for a few days for this process to complete if the registration is purchased by a separate buyer..
