Lot 064: 1937 BENTLEY 4.25 LITRE SALOON

Finished in black with brown leather upholstery, this particular example wears elegant four-door saloon coachwork by Park Ward. Understood to have had "one owner for the past forty years", 'DXA 890' has reputedly been off the road and "dry stored on blocks" since 1987. Consequently said to be "in need of restoration", we are informed that "some original parts not currently fitted can be found boxed in the boot. These include the water temperature gauge, front bumper stays, ignition coil and glovebox lid etc". Variously described by the seller as being in "running" (4257cc engine), "no known faults" (four-speed manual gearbox), "mostly operational" (electrical equipment), "good" (chassis), "fair" (wheels / tyres) or "poor" (bodywork, paintwork, interior trim) condition, the Bentley sports a replacement back axle. While, the original numbered assembly is available from the vendor, it apparently "requires remedial work to the pinion and bearings". A potentially rewarding project, 'DXA 890' is offered for sale with "original driver's handbook".
