Lot 110: Fiat 124 AC Coupe

Classic - Collectors and Historic Motor Cars, Barons (12th February 2008)

The 124 Coupé was designed by Boano, a Fiat company designer, while the Spider was designed by Pininfarina. While the Spider and Coupé may have shared a model designation, they did not share a common platform. There were approximately 113,000 AC Coupés, 98,000 BC Coupés 1,438 cc/1,608 cc, and about 75,000 CC Coupés. There were ongoing changes with all models making them almost individual by year.he AC model was introduced in 1967 and came with a 1438 cc twin cam engine, 5 speed box and torque tube driveline. It also had a rear anti-roll bar, 120 mph speedo and a set of 3 gauges. The interior was equipped with a faux woodrim steering wheel with stainless spokes, plus a wood-grain dash and console top. The Fiat 124 sport coupes were extremely modern in chassis and engine design with fine tolerances similar to more modern cars. The model enjoyed excellent braking, via four 9" disc brakes, a sealed cooling systems, thermatic fans and a toothed timing belt. This 1969 example is said to have been owned by just two members of the same family in its life and has benefited from a full restoration in 1996. The car was equipped with new doors, new sills, a rebuilt engine, unleaded conversion and a bare metal repaint. Since the restoration, the car has been molly coddled and is said to be in outstanding condition, while being a joy to drive.Finished in Mediterranean blue with red interior, the car is offered with a comprehensive history file and a number of useful spare, which include a 4-speed gearbox, shock absorbers, bumpers, oil seals and other miscellaneous parts.Finished in Mediterranean blue with red interior, the car is offered with a comprehensive history file and a number of useful spare, which include a 4-speed gearbox, shock absorbers, bumpers, oil seals and other miscellaneous parts.A rare opportunity to acquire a surviving example of one of these excellent little Fiat Coupes, which is in fine condition and both MoT'd and taxed through to July 2008.
