Lot 159: 1963 KTM 50cc Ponny 1 Special de Luxe
Professor Fritz Ehn Motorcycle Museum Collection, Bonhams (30th June 2008)
The Austrian KTM Company, best known for its two-stroke competition machines, also made small scooters, often using the strong and reliable Puch fan-cooled 50cc unit. One of these was the Ponny, which was in production for a number of years carrying different body styles. The 50 scooter has, of course, become a popular mount in recent years. This is an example of the fifties-styled note the fins - Ponny 1, and is the top of the range de Luxe Spezial with twin headlights, extras and more chrome. In good condition, with fewer than 32,000 km on the clock, this will be a good opportunity to re-commission a 50 scooter which has style and thus will stand out on the High Street.
