Nationalis�e par le gouvernement fran�ais � l'issue de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale, la R�gie Renault reprend la production industrielle avec deux mod�les : la Juvaquatre, mod�le des ann�es 1930 remis au go�t du jour, et la 4CV, voiture enti�rement nouvelle. Con�ue en secret pendant les ann�es de conflit, la 4CV a �t� influenc�e par la petite voiture la plus en avance de son �poque la Fiat 500 Topolino. Mieux �quip�e que des automobiles faisant deux fois sa taille, la Topolino, avec ses freins � commande hydraulique, ses roues avant ind�pendantes et son syst�me �lectrique 12 volts, �tablit une nouvelle r�f�rence de qualit� en mati�re de petites voitures, lors de son lancement en 1936.
Produite � partir de 1946, la Renault 4CV devance sa rivale italienne par sa carrosserie quatre portes et quatre places, ses roues ind�pendantes et son moteur � soupapes en t�te, cette derni�re caract�ristique �tant bient�t adopt�e par la Fiat. Le moteur arri�re de la 4CV la caract�rise �galement, et cette disposition va d'ailleurs �tre reprise sur les Renault de tourisme les plus diffus�es jusqu'aux ann�es 1960. Initialement d'une cylindr�e de 760 cm3 (r�duite � 747 cm3 en 1950), le moteur quatre cylindres d�livre entre 19 et 22 ch transmis � une bo�te de vitesses � trois rapports. La vitesse de pointe de la 4CV se situe autour de 95 km/h, mais ceux qui recherchent des �motions plus fortes peuvent se tourner vers la 4CV "Sport" et surtout la rare 1063 dont le moteur d�veloppe 30 ch. Le million d'exemplaires sera d�pass� lors de l'arr�t de la production de la 4CV, en 1961, le succ�s commercial exceptionnel de cette voiture fournissant apr�s-guerre � la nouvelle R�gie Renault un socle sur lequel se d�velopper.
Cette 4CV standard, de couleur bleue ciel (repeinte il y a dix ans), offre son int�rieur d'origine en bon �tat. Elle est munie de papiers de circulation belges et propos�e sans prix de r�serve.
Nationalised by the French government at the end of WWII, a re-vitalised Renault commenced post-war production with two models: the Juvaquatre, an up-dated design from the 1930s, and the 4CV, an entirely new car. Conceived in secret during wartime, the 4CV had been influenced by the most advanced small car of the pre-war period - the FIAT 500 Topolino. Better equipped than many cars twice its size, the Topolino, with its hydraulic brakes, independent front suspension and 12-volt electrics, set a new benchmark of refinement for small cars when launched in 1936.
In production from 1946, the Renault 4CV improved on its Italian rival's specification by virtue of its four-door, four-seat body, all-independent suspension and overhead-valve engine, though the FIAT would soon gain the latter. The 4CV's rear engine also set it apart from the FIAT of course, and this layout would characterise all Renault's mainstream passenger cars until the 1960s. Initially of 760cc (it was downsized to 747cc in 1950) the four-cylinder engine produced between 19-22bhp and drove via a three-speed gearbox. The 4CV's top speed was around 60mph, but for those who wanted more excitement there was a high-performance version - the R1052 Sport. 4CV production had totalled over one million units by the time the model was withdrawn in 1961, the car's outstanding commercial success providing the foundation for Renault's post-war resurgence.
This standard 4CV is finished in sky blue (repainted ten years ago) and boasts an original interior in good condition. The car comes with Belgian title and is offered without reserve.
