Lot 206: 1956 Citroen 2CV AZL Ripple Bonnet

The car on offer today is a 2CV ripple Bonnet manufactured in December 1956 in Dove grey and is in very good original condition. The first owner was a French aristocrat who owned the car from new until 2001. The car was used for pottering about in their village of St Amand Sur Fion, France. The second owners of this car were looking for a "good" ripple in France in 2001 when they were told about Madam Monique's car, by the then chairman of the Citroen 2CV club of France, as possibly the best example of a genuine well kept ripple. On quizzing the couple for 2 days and on reluctant sale of "dizzy" (you have to have a name for them!!) many conditions were placed on the new owners, notably to keep the vehicle warm and dryly stored and not let her venture out in the rain unnecessarily. All conditions have been met by the couple, and by the present day owner who purchased the car from them in 2002.The vehicle boasts many period factory fitted accessories including; Boot extension, Paris/traffic clutch, side indicators (first year of introduction), locking petrol cap and steering lock, city/urban horn, oil can holder and upgraded blue tartan cloth seats.The exterior was lightly refurbished in 1998 and the vehicle was regularly waxoyled and service by the same mechanic all its life while in France. The car latterly the best and most original example to come to the market with manufacturer's original plastic door covering on the inside door trims and beautiful tartan seat squabs. Complementing the car is a V5 document and previous MoT certificates and comes with 2 original Pilote tyres on correct rims.This 3 owner car has only covered 48,000 kilometres (approx 30,000 miles) from new and will be a good addition to a private collection or a museum piece.
