Lot 121: Daimler 2.5 Litre Saloon

First seen in 1962, the Daimler 2.5 Litre Saloon (latterly the V8250) was a marriage between the MKII Jaguar and the Edward Turners wonderful V8 engine, in 2.5 litre form. The Daimlers were easily spotted by the fluted grill and they also benefited from more luxurious interiors. All of the original, pre-facelift, 2.5 Litre Saloons were equipped with the Borg Warner automatic transmission and offered better performance than the baby 2.4 Jaguar MKII, which was the closest comparable model in the range. Offered here is a 1964 example, which has benefited from a comprehensive restoration between 1994 and 1999, since when it has covered just 4000 miles. Having completed the restoration, which is best described as "Nut and Bolt", the car was treated to wax injection and the underside was coated with rubberised underseal. The car is described as being in outstanding condition throughout and is offered complete with a photographic record of the restoration and bills amounting to �47,000.00 (forty seven thousand pounds). In addition to this, the car was the subject of a further mechanical overhaul, in 2007, by renowned Marque specialist Southern Classics.
