Lot 206: Jaguar E-Type S2 4.2 FHC

Jaguar Heritage and Classic Cars, Barons (1st May 2007)

The Series Two E-type would be replaced in 1971 by the, V12 powered, S3 version. This was entirely due to the emission laws in America, where anti smog measures were strangulating the 4.2 XK engine. Running on two Stromberg carburettors, in place of the three 2" SU's on European cars and added smog gizmos, power was down by nearly 50% Offered here is a very late Series 2, which was first registered on the 22nd March 1971. This has to make it one of the very last of the Series Two cars. Owned for 10 years, it is said to have been carefully maintained and always kept garaged when not in use. The car was MoT tested in late April 2007 and received new exhaust box, new tyres and attention to the indicators. The car was also tuned during the last two weeks of April, as it had been unused for around 9 months. The car is offered complete with a large history file. Finished in Carmen red with black leather, the car sits on chrome wire wheels and is said to be in ready to use condition.
