Lot 33: MG MIDGET Mk II

Introduced in 1964, the Mk II version of the Midget benefited from a beefed up crankshaft, more power, locking doors and improved handling and ride, now with semi-elliptic springs at the rear. This very pleasant 1965 example is finished in Tartan Red with black trim. The original owner had kept it from new until April 1989 and the current owner purchased it later that year. The recorded mileage stands at a little over 37,000 miles and this is believed by the vendor to be genuine, being supported by much history and many MOT certificates dating back to 1978. Some light restoration work was carried out during 1995  the inner and outer sills were replaced along with the A-post panels and the bodywork tidied up and repainted  but otherwise the car was found to be in very good condition and the engine and gearbox etc. have never been removed. On inspection, the car started immediately from cold. A short test revealed no vices and it drove just as one would wish a 1098cc Midget to drive. Cosmetically and mechanically the car seems to be in very good shape, though some of the chrome work would benefit from replacement to bring it back up to scratch. Supplied with the car is a large file of history, including service invoices dating back to 1980 and the aforementioned MOTs, along with more recent documents. Along with the current V5C registration document there is also the original Green RF60 and an MOT certificate valid until April 2009.
