Lot 403: 1957 Triumph 650cc T100/6T and sidecar
Pioneer, Vintage & Collectors' Motorcycles, Bonhams (27th April 2008)
The Triumph range in the 1950s contained machines for different purposes built around similar but subtly different components. The Tiger 100 was their sports of the 5T Speed Twin, both re-introduced in 1946, the T100 with its engine to tuned specification, later versions being fitted with an all-alloy top-end. The 6T, called the ‘Thunderbird’ for the American market, was an all-iron 650 with a flexible ‘soft’ motor capable, nevertheless of the magic ‘ton’. This outfit has been built from a combination of the two, a 6T engine in a T100 frame and running gear, the two attached to a - literally - box sidecar. Unused and in less than ideal storage for many years, it will be an inexpensive start to a Triumph T100 rebuild. It is complete with a VE 60 log-book, V5 and V5C documents.
