The venerable Rover P3 Series, with its pre-War design, finally yielded place to the all-new P4 Type in 1949. With styling showing more than a slight hint of trans-Atlantic influence, this new model initially was treated with suspicion by the traditional Rover clientele and was seen as being a radical departure from established practice. However, in those rapidly changing times the car was soon to achieve great success, spawning a line of motor cars which were to remain in production until 1964 with comparatively few styling changes. The Rover slogan, 'One of Britain's fine cars', has certainly held true. These high quality motor cars have stood the test of time extremely well and are fondly remembered, symbolising, as they do, an age when motoring in Britain was a far more agreeable and relaxed experience. Renowned for their rugged strength and reliability, many survivors are still in regular day-to-day use and are supported by the enthusiastic Rover P4 Guild with good spares availability. Dating from 1963, this example of the Rover 95 is reported to have been the subject of considerable refurbishment, which is believed to have been undertaken around eight years ago. Smartly finished in grey with deep red leather trim, the car would seem to be extremely correct and to original specification. All major mechanical components are described by the vendor as being in excellent order and at time of writing a service is being carried out.
