Lot 133: 1988 Ferrari Mondial Cabriolet

1984 saw the introduction of the Mondial Cabriolet, the first true convertible Ferrari since the early seventies. This version was lighter than the coup by about 100lbs and significantly it was introduced with four valve cylinder heads, this engine type being recognised by its quattrovalve designation. With slight revisions to the front suspension, the Mondial Cabriolet had become one of the most civilised and pleasurable Ferraris to drive, always winning high praise from motoring journalists around the world.The last development of the model the Mondial T received a 296bhp, 3,405cc V8 engine mounted longitudinally in the frame. Along with the new engine came a completely new five speed transmission, electronically controlled variable suspension and a three position manual suspension selector. Top speed was 159mph and the 0-60 sprint could be covered in 6.3 seconds. Finished in the traditional red with a cream leather interior & red carpets, this fine example has covered just 36,700 miles from new and comes with a full service history. Having had only two owners from new the car remains in good order and comes with all the correct hand and service books, tools & covers. Remarkably only 57 UK supplied right hand drive cars were produced making them a relatively rare item. Performance 4 seater open top sports cars are generally twice this price and the prancing horse motifs adorning the sides of this Mondial make it all the more desirable. The car is supplied with UK V5 log book a new MoT and has had a cam belt service in July last year.
