Lot 402: 1921 Alldays Allon 292cc
Pioneer, Vintage & Collectors' Motorcycles, Bonhams (27th April 2008)
Engaged in motor-trade production from the 1890s, the Birmingham firm of Alldays and Onions, also made their own high-quality cars and motor cycles in a relatively small way, their name usually combined with the engine maker’s, resulting in such vehicles as the Alldays-Enfield or, as here, the Alldays Allon. The latter used an Allon two-stroke engine of 292cc allied to a two-speed, belt-drive gearbox, a popular formula for lightweights around the time of The Great War. This one was registered in March 1921 in Monmouth and has been in its late owner’s hands for well over thirty years, carefully preserved, always with the intention of restoration. Sadly, this never happened and this extremely rare lightweight is now offered for sale from his estate, presenting a very straightforward and worthwhile project. It is complete with RF 60 logbook, V5 and V5c documents, photos taken when first found and Alldays transfers.
