Lot 215: Jaguar E-Type S2 4.2 2+2
Jaguar Heritage and Classic Cars, Barons (1st May 2007)
The E-Type originally came in Roadster and FHC form but the 2+2 was added to satisfy the American market (by far the largest) in the mid sixties. The FHC and Roadster were built using the original, shorter floorpan but the 2+2 was quite a bit longer, allowing the insertion of a fold-away rear seat. This additional seating meant that a family man (or woman) could now have an E-Type without feeling guilty. With the seats in the folded position, the 2+2 also offered an enormous amount of luggage space, which made it a superb Grand Tourer for two. This 1969 example of the 2+2 is a one owner car. Owned a by a lady from new, the car is offered complete with a comprehensive history file, which documents a speedometer replacement at 63,806 miles (now reading 33,200). Described as being in generally good order throughout, the car is equipped with the 4.2 litre, XK engine, which is mated to the Borg Warner,3-Speed automatic transmission. The black leather interior is original with a patina of age and all electric's are said to be in working order. One owner, 38 year old E-types are something of a rarity. One owner, 38 year old E-types, the property of a lady and with near full history, are rarer still
