Lot 062: Porsche 911 RS Carrera Recreation

The 911 has one of the purest shapes in automotive history, devoid of any unnecessary ornament or stylistic frippery. It was designed with only one function in mind  to go fast. Up until the advent of the fearsome Turbo in 1975 (an example of which is also in this sale), the fastest of the lot was the legendary RS Carrera of the early 1970s. Instantly recognisable by its 'duck-tail' rear spoiler, it has now become so desirable that a genuine example will set you back a six-figure sum (and rising). Small wonder then that a cottage industry has now grown up to supply cars that look like the real RS but at a fraction of it's price tag. Based on a 1974 3.0-litre Carrera, this car is one such example. Features include: white with pale blue decals and wheel centres; black leather trim; Momo leather steering wheel; new carpets throughout; Fuchs alloy wheels (7" fronts, 8" rears); 3.0-litre engine (204 bhp); K-Jet fuel injection; 915 5-speed manual gearbox; Brembo front brake conversion; windscreen with integrated aerial; Clarion head unit. With an MOT until June 2009, the car is said to be in good condition throughout and to drive very well.
