Lot 204: Jaguar E-Type

While The E-Type was a popular choice among young blades, the family man was excluded from enjoying the pleasure of ownership, until, that is, the 2+2 was launched. Longer, taller than the 2 seater fixed head coupe, with a steeply raked windscreen, the 2+2 offered enough seating space for two children in the rear, fold away, seat or even adults on very short journeys. There was also generous luggage space behind the seats, which made the 2+2 an ideal touring car.This example is a late Series One , which is said to have covered a warranted 92,000 miles in 39 years. The car is said to have benefited from a professional engine rebuild at 80,000 miles (1985) and bodywork restoration, with new sills and full repaint in 1979, rebuilt steering, rebuilt rear subframe (mid 90's) and has a nicely patinated interior. The car is equipped with stainless steel exhaust and a Kenlowe electric cooling fan.Finished in black with red leather interior, the car is said to have covered 8,000, trouble free, miles in 2005 and is ready to provide classic Jaguar motoring for the summer.
