Lot 209: 1925 MORRIS OXFORD 13.9HP TOURER

Royal blue body, black mudguards, wheels and chassis.

When this example was produced, a 'Bullnose' Morris Oxford tourer cost £285, in comparison with the £195 price for the smaller Cowley, and the difference reflected the extra size and performance offered by the Oxford, as well as the quality of the fittings. This well-equipped tourer is in very sound order, and although to 1925 model specification, was first registered in December 1924. The dashboard is correctly aluminium-covered, and is equipped with all the correct instruments: a 0 - 60 Smiths speedometer with trip, Lucas switchboard, oil pressure gauge and Smiths hinged clock. Other fittings include the expected bulb horn and a magnificent Auster folding rear windscreen. The black duck hood is good order, and the car has been carefully reupholstered in grey leather.

19 inch well-base steel artillery wheels are fitted, as are Gabriel snubbers, at the front only. The carburettor is a Solex, and the magneto a Lucas.
