Lot 117: 1990 Jaguar XJS TWR Convertible
Spring Auction, Coys (20th April 2005)
The Jaguar XJS was launched to great acclaim in April of 1975 as a replacement for the legendary E-type, a tough act to follow! But nonetheless it has gone on to become another classic Jaguar design. There was no convertible available at the beginning mainly due to the way American safety legislation was heading during the XJS s development in the late 1960 s, however the first convertible reached the showrooms in the 1980's.The specification from the outset was impressive and included the V12 5.3 litre engine which had been seen in the Series III E-type. Automatic transmission was fitted as standard with manual being a no cost option. Performance was impressive with the top speed being 150mph and the 0-60 time being 6.9 seconds for the automatic version. The stopping power was even more formidable. This 2 owner, 1990 car is finished in signal red with a magnolia leather interior piped in red. The car is fitted with the exclusive TWR body kit and Speedline alloys, believed to be fitted from new. The car has a full Jaguar and marque specialist service history and has covered 1000 -2000 sunny miles in the last 5 years. Presented with old MoT's, invoices and service book, this particular XJS is described by the owner to be in very good condition. With a valid MoT and current road fund licence this "big cat" is ready to be enjoyed.
