Lot 164: c.1953 Lohner 198cc L200 Superroller
Professor Fritz Ehn Motorcycle Museum Collection, Bonhams (30th June 2008)
The Lohner scooter range, very well-regarded in the nineteen-fifties, was mostly made up of small-capacity machines. In common with other makers, though, there was a top-of- the-range model, in their case the L 200 Superscooter. Powered by a Sachs / Rotax single unit producing almost 9 bhp, the L 200 was much faster than most of its contemporaries though performance came at a price which resulted in relatively few being sold. The example held by the museum was rescued by Prof. Ehn, from a deep Austrian cellar in 1982 having had its wheels removed by a previous owner. Despite this it retains its original finish and is in generally good condition, though needing thorough checks after a period of disuse. Offered with some makers documentation.
