Lot 01: Morris Minor Split Screen Series II

This faithful old Moggie has had just one owner from new and no doubt has many tales to tell of roads travelled and adventures encountered in a long and varied life. Obviously much loved by its engineer owner, it has a number of sensible modifications designed to make it a reliable travelling companion on the many European trips that it has undertaken. These include a larger 1098cc engine, a temperature gauge, interior map light, flashing indicators as well as semaphore arms, an aluminium radiator muff for quicker warm-up in winter, mud-flaps and an alarm.Still fitted with its original 'tortoiseshell' steering wheel, it also has a period Motorola radio and driver's side parking light. Apparently never welded or otherwise restored, it is still said to be very sound throughout with a particularly good underbody. Always well maintained, the 70,350 miles on the clock is believed to be the genuine distance travelled from new.Due to have a fresh MOT before the sale, this 52-year old may be thinning a bit on top but it still has a sparkle in its eye and a spring in its step and has a good many years of useful life ahead of it yet. It now needs another loyal owner to look after it and keep it company for the next half-century.
