Lot 108: Jaguar XJS 3.6 Coupe

The XJS was the saviour of Jaguar cars. Remaining in production for 20 years, the model suffered from comparisons with the E-Type during the early years but the model was never meant to be an E-Type replacement but a Grand Touring Car, which was a roll it carried out magnificently. The early, pre HE, V12 also suffered from oil crisis jitters but this was addressed in the early 80's with the Brian May HE V12 but the biggest change came in 1984 with the introduction of the AJ6 engine in 3.6 litre form. This new engine could be had with a Getrag manual or an automatic transmission and could achieve 25 plus mpg, opening the market to a much wider audience. This example, of the 3.6 Coupe, is said to have covered a warranted 73,400 miles in 20 years. It has just three former keepers, which comprised of a Caffyns Jaguar of Eastbourne, a husband and wife. It is offered complete with extensive service history, invoices and every MoT from new. Finished in Arctic blue with cream hide, the car is said to be in excellent condition, to drive very well and to be complete with a new MoT certificate.
