Lot 232: 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle

The Chevrolet Chevelle SS, with its own line of engines and performance equipment, was the high performance version of Chevrolet's Chevelle and represented Chevrolet's entry into the hot midsize muscle car battle. Along with the Pontiac GTO, it remains one of the most popular cars from this era and with good reason; its strong performance at a reasonable price made it popular on the street and on the track. 1968 saw a major redesign of the Chevelle SS. The wheelbase was shortened by three inches and it gained new styling with a rakish front end incorporating bold sweep back lines that extended from bumper to bumper, a stretched bonnet and a shortened back, together with a recessed rear window converted into a fastback look while the rear side windows were given a 'V' look. First registered on the 1st January 1968, this example is described as being in excellent condition all round. The car is finished in blue with flames along the flanks and on the bonnet - through which a large induction air ram feds the 383 cubic inch engine - while the interior is a little more restrained and is finished in black and sports a floor mounted gear change. This British registered car is supplied with a V5 registration document, American Certificate of Title and a MoT test certificate valid until April 2008. A truly unique custom car that will certainly turn heads and put a smile on the face of its lucky new owner.
