Lot 128: Jaguar E-Type S2 4.2 FHC

From it's launch in 1961 to it's demise in 1975, the E-Type maintained the mantle of the most beautiful sports car in the world. While the Roadster may top the classic price poll, it was always the fixed head coupe that took the prize for the best looking E-Type. While the Series One is always quoted as being the prettiest, it was not the most comfortable, did not have the best brakes or headlights and obviously lacked some of the improvements of the later cars. The Series Two offered improved seating and ventilation, better brakes, much improved night vision and other, less aesthetically pleasing changes to indicators and bumpers to comply with American specified changes. This example, of the Series Two, is said to have benefited from a full restoration, costing over £15,000.00, over the past two years, which included the following. Bare metal repaint, new red leather interior, carpets and door cards, new headlining, all brightwork replaced, new rear light clusters, new chrome wires and tyres, rear axle overhaul, brake overhaul, engine overhaul, new loom, exhaust manifolds and system, radiator, new wood-rim steering wheel and more. The car is presented in outstanding condition. Finished in midnight blue with red leather interior, the car has had just three previous keepers from new, the last for 29 years and has just benefited from a full service.
