Lot 200: 1990 Alfa Romeo 33 Cloverleaf Veloce

Essentially an evolution of its predecessor, the Alfasud, which was based on the same floorpan, chassis and mechanicals, albeit with some minor modifications, the 33 was discontinued in 1994 and replaced by the Alfa Romeo 145 and 146, which used the same horizontally-opposed cylinder 'boxer' engines but built around an entirely new platform based on the Fiat Tipo. The five door hatchback model was launched in 1983, and a station wagon variant was introduced the following year at the same time as a four-wheel drive version of the hatchback, the latter having been styled by Centro Stile Alfa Romeo. Renowned for its nimble handling and powerful boxer engines, the 33 has a unique place in Alfa Romeo history - nearly one million of these cars were produced internationally. This 1990 example is described as being in good condition all round and boasts the powerful 117bhp 1.7 litre engine, giving this car a great turn of speed. With only two owners from new car, and finished in white with black interior trim, the car is supplied with the original service handbook, V5 registration document and a large file of bills, including a diary kept by the previous meticulous owner detailing services and related expenses which have amounted to some £3,000 over the last three years.
