Lot 213: Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.3 16V
Originally campaigned on the circuit where it competed in numerous endurance races including the 24 hours of Spa in 1985 and 1986, this historic competition car was then modified by Snobeck, the official Mercedes-Benz rally team to compete in the Tour Auto with Didier Auriol at the wheel where the car finished 2nd overall and was also campaigned in various rallies across France.
Under the bonnet is a Snobeck group A engine which produces 285bhp at 6850 rpm putting power through a Mercedes-Benz Getrag Group A gearbox. An original AMG individual throttle body with carbon airbox and stainless exhaust system is fitted.
Brakes are Group A braking system with 16 discs up front and progressive rear brake bias and a fly off hydraulic handbrake. The car sits on PLS aluminium rims with central nut assembly which are very rare and only used by the Official Mercedes Snobeck Team. Suspension is taken care of by full Snobeck Group A suspension at each corner.
Safety equipment consists of a FIA approved Matter multipoint steel roll cage and 2 race seats with 3multipoint harnesses a fully welded lightweight body.
The car is supplied with FIA papers and is described as being in a completely original state, with the body described by the vendor as being in mint condition and ready to race.
The owner informs us this Mercedes Benz is completely prepared for rallying and is a particularly rare and unique Mercedes rally car. With good period competition history under its wheels this Mercedes is surely to be invited to the most prestigious of historic rally events the world over.
