Lot 1329: Vincent Rapide C and Blacknell Combination
Confirmed by The Vincent Owners Club as being a correctly numbered example, the Dudley registered machine was formerly sold by Cheffins in October 2004 (Lot 521) and has remained part of a private collection ever since. It is believed to have had the restored Bracknell sidecar fitted around 2001 with a brief period of use prior to storage until the sale in 2004 when the current owner took charge. A former custodian had stated that a restoration had been carried out in the early 1990's but no documentary evidence of this appears to have survived, however, the fine condition would indicate that this is indeed likely to be the case. RHA 174 is fitted with the iconic Black Shadow 5inch 150mph speedometer which now shows a recorded mileage of 11,413 miles just 800 of which have been added since 2004. The magnificent period sidecar by Blacknell of Nottingham has been well finished and has braking connected to the rear wheel of the Vincent via mechanical linkage. The whole outfit appears to be very correct with Miller 6v electrical system, correct rubbers and matching crank case halves (UU85), stated to be in over all very good condition a new enthusiast owner will, after the usual re-commissioning, be once more King of the road, supplied with V5C documentation and some recent history.
