Lot 1331: Ariel 4G Square Four and Watsonian Combination

Vintage Sale, Cheffins (19 October 2013)

In the current ownership since the mid 1970's having been purchased from a museum near Kew in Surrey fitted with a double adult sidecar 'the size of a bungalow'. This was rapidly removed and the stylish replacement is a close coupled Watsonian Monza chair which has done stirling service ever since. The vendor informs us that the engine was rebuilt immediately on purchase by Healey Bros at that time showing over 60,000 miles according to a 1973 MOT, now having covered over 104,000 miles we are informed that it has performed faultlessly since purchase and has been used on innumerable rallies in the UK. The Squariel has been fitted with an uprated Ariel oil pump, oil cooler and filter unit, last used in anger in 1987 it has remained in the garage ever since where the owner has commenced a 12volt conversion which, due to illness, now requires completion. Offered for sale with hood, tonneau and frame for sidecar, current V5C documentation, a quantity of old MOT's and a buff logbook commencing at 1962, a tidy example with good history that will require re-commissioning for the road
