Lot 147: Ferrari Mondial 8

Classic - Collectors and Sports Cars, Barons (28 October 2013)

The Mondial was conceived as the replacement for the 308 Dino/GT4, which was designed by Bertone and was the first mid-engined V8 2+2 Berlinetta from Ferrari. Ferrari returned to  Pininfarina to design a more stylish and practical body, and had to increase the GT4 wheelbase by 100mm to improve passenger comfort, without being detrimental to the road holding. The final result made its debut at the 1980 Geneva Motor Show, and took the name Mondial from a Ferrari two-litre sports/race car of the early 1950's. Finished in Rosso Corsa with Crema hide and burgundy carpets, and sitting on the correct Cromodora light alloy road wheels, the car is equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox, electric windows, central locking, electric mirrors, tinted glass, heated rear window, air conditioning (in full working order) and original leather bound Nardi sports steering wheel. It has had just one owner for the past 18 years, as part of a large classic car collection which the owner is now scaling down due to his age. The car has covered very few miles during this time but has benefited from regular service works Including a recent new clutch and new cambelts. The car is said to drive without fault, with perfect oil pressure, oil and water temperature. Offered complete with very good history with many previous MoT certificates, the car has covered a mere 75,000 miles from new. Described as being in fabulous condition and a real head turner!!
