Lot 173: Subaru Impreza WRX Type RA

Classic - Collectors and Sports Cars, Barons (28 October 2013)

This Subaru Impreza WRX Type RA is one of the special lightweight RA derivatives introduced in 1995. The first generation cars (1992-2001) were equipped with a turbocharged 2-litre version of the boxer engine. In RA form, as sold to private race and rally teams, the engine produced some 271bhp and 235lbft of torque straight from the factory. It also came with thinner body panels and no sound-deadening or air-conditioning in order to save weight, and was equipped with a Driver Controlled Centre Differential (DCCD). This 1997 example has been dry stored for six years and has covered a certified 26,000 miles from new, with just one Japanese and one British owner. The car has been serviced and has been chipped to run 98 RON Fuel. The only other modifications are a full stainless exhaust HKS dump valve and a mushroom filter. Finished in feather white the car is said to be in stunning condition and has all the correct lightweight panels (as per the homologation model), close ratio gear box, factory fitted electric windows and four matched tyres. There has never been a radio fitted. This rare and collectable WRX Type RA is said to be in outstanding condition and offers excellent value.
