Lot 178: Mercedes-Benz 190E

Classic - Collectors and Sports Cars, Barons (28 October 2013)

Theforerunner to the C-Class, the W210190 was Daimler-Benz's compact executive offering from 1983 until 1993 andseen asthe Mercedesentry levelmodel at the time. After huge investmentthe company pioneered a number of technical innovations on this model, including the 5-link suspension system, subsequently carried over to the C- and E-Class ranges. The car featured anti-dive and squat geometry as standard and was alsoavailable with airbags, ABS, seatbelt tensioners and other safety features generally well ahead of their time. There was just one body style - a three-box, four-door saloon. Early models were somewhat cramped in the rear; a problem that was resolved in the 1989 model-year facelift. There was a range of petrol engines from 1.8 to 2.6 litres and a selection of diesel units from 2.0 to 2.5 litres. A total of around1.9 million 190s were produced during the model's 10-year production run, many of which are still providing sterling service today - some with hundreds of thousands of miles on the clock. This 1992, 2.0 litre example of this modern classic is offered with MB service history for the majority of its life and is described as being an excellent driver and in superb condition. The leather interior was retro fitted by Dronsfield Mercedes of Oldham and the receipt for this is included in the history file. Finished in smoke silver with the beige interior, the car is offered complete with original handbooks, in the original wallet, original tool kit, new battery, MoT through to Aug 2014 and tax until March 2014.
