Bristol S6 (BMW derived)

In 1947 the Bristol Aeroplane Company branched into car manufacturing, at first building a revised pre-war BMW design. The new cars were powered by Bristol's own straight six engine which displaced 1971cc. These fabulous overhead valve engines were also supplied to other British manufacturers including AC, Cooper and Frazer-Nash. Bristol themselves continued to use the six cylinder engine until 196. In all that time the engine had only received one major change which was an increase in capacity to 2216cc in 1958. |
