Austin-Healey
Overview

The Donald Healey Motor Company displayed a new prototype sportscar at the 1952 London Motorshow, this pretty car attracted the attentions of the mighty Austin Motor Company, the rest is history...
The Austin-Healey provided an instant contender for Austin to enter the ever growing UK sportscar market with, competing with rivals such as the Triumph TR2 and MGTF. Throughout the 50's Austin continued to develop the original concept as well as introducing a smaller car, the Sprite.
By the mid-60's BMC (Austin and Morris had merged in 1952 to form BMC shortly after the original deal with Donald Healey) had taken the decision to rationalise its range and so in 1968 the Austin-Healey name was dropped in favour of the more popular MG brand.
