Ford Germany
Overview
On 1 April 1926, the first Model T ford emerged from the German Ford factory in Berlin. In August 1928, this was replaced by the famed Model A Ford, built until 1934. The Model A Ford was succeeded by the Ford Rheinland. The Eifel was a great success. Until 1939, no less than 61,495 were produced. In 1939, the Eifel was replaced by the Ford Taunus, the first model to be completely developed and produced in Germany. The engine and gearbox of the Taunus came from the Ford Eifel, but the chassis and bodywork were all new.
It was not only in America that Ford acquired fame for its cheap V8 engines. More than 15,000 cars were fitted with such engines in Germany. The models looked American, but were designed and built in Germany.
