L.A.D.

1913 - 1926
The L.A.D. was one of the lightest and simplest of the cyclecars, mainly sold as a monocar though a 2-seater was available to special order. It was powered by a 5 1/2hp single-cylinder Stag engine driving the rear axle by a short chain. No gearbox was needed as there was only one forward speed and no reverse. The pencil-like body resembled that of the Carden Monocar. In 1913 it was priced at £60, and when it was revived in 1923 the price had risen to only £75. However most people preferred the Autin Seven at £165, or a second hand larger car. The 5.7hp 2-cylinder L.A.D. of 1923 was no more appealing, and sales of both models must have been very small.
