Bassett
Overview
The prototype Bassett (which still exists) was built in 1899, but a new car 'on which the Bassett Motor Syndicate has been working for some time' was shown at London's Agricultural Hall Exhibition in May 1901. It was a 4-seater powered by a 4hp Schwanemeyer engine mounted below the rear seat, with 2-speed gearbox. The engine, transmission and rear axle were contained in a single aluminium oil chamber.
Little was heard of it after its announcement.
