Overview

Mazda of Japan can trace its heritage back to the 1930's when it was created by Japanese industrial giant Toyo. Initial products were mainly Trucks although work on passenger cars was well underway by the 1960's.

The Mazda 1200 was the first model to be launched in Europe in 1968 followed by the larger 1500 and 1800. Mazda really made a name for itself with its pioneering use of Rotary engines, a feature which continues to be associated with the now Ford-owned marque.
