Ladas
Overview
1905 - 1906
James Bowen began experimenting with cars around 1902, and in 1905 had one ready for exhibition. Its first appearance was at the Manchester Show in February 1906. It was a single-cylinder light car with a 3-speed gearbox giving direct-drive on top, and shaft final drive. With a Rover automatic carburettor it was priced at £150. By the end of 1906 Bowen left Manchester for Edinburgh and the business was sold to J.N. Aitken who made bicycles and motorcycles under the name Ladas.
